This book includes a selection of works resulting from studies worked out by specialists of Banco Central de Cuba in the last few years. The changes in world economy are so dynamic that, in some cases, the findings and analyses gathered may be overcome by the outcomes of the events, depending on the moment in which they are read. Nevertheless, the essential aspects of them are still in effect strategically, while their occasional traits shall preserve forever their value as a reference.

The works have been grouped in four main blocks according to their content. In the first block, all the works related to international economy and some aspects of international finances are considered. The second block deals with a purely monetary plane, where the works linked to the balance of payments and the growing international dollarization of Latin American economies are concentrated; then, a block referring to the external debt is presented, and finally, some aspects related to Cuban economy are analyzed.

We hope it to be useful for readers and that the purpose of this document fulfill the desires and expectations of its team of authors.
