During 2001, Banco Central de Cuba cooperated with the Foreign Affairs
Ministry in different issues, in making preparatory works for the European
Union-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit held in April, 2002. It actively
participated in all Preparatory Committees and preliminary works in general
for the Financing of Development Summit held in March, 2002, in Monterrey,
Mexico.
Likewise, attention was focused on monetary and financial issues of several
international organizations. Among them, there were works related to the
World Trade Organization (WTO). BCC took part in Geneva in negotiations
to extend Cuba’s exemption for 5 more years before the WTO since it has
not entered in a Special Trade Agreement.

on Trade and Development (UNTAD), United Nations Organization (UNO), Group
of Seventy Seven, and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the
Caribbean (ECLA), among others.
Tasks for the implementation of the Cuba-CARICOM agreement were continued
with participation at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of
the Caribbean Development Bank.
Bank officials also attended the 72nd Meeting of Governors of Central
Banks of Latin America and Spain, held in Mexico as well as the 38th Meeting
of Presidents of Banks of the American Continent. They also participated
at the Meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty Four, held at
its seat in Washington, in April.
Officials of Banco Central de Cuba took part in the 14th and 15th Meeting
of the Network of Central Banks and Ministries of Finance of the Inter-American
Bank of Development (IBD) and the 2nd Meeting of Latin America and the
Caribbean and Markets, sponsored by the World Bank.
